The KESLER registry is providing an important source of data on the burden of SLE in Kenya and the risk of infection.
Research from other parts of the world have shown that infections are currently the leading cause of illness and death in people with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) worldwide. The purpose of this research study is to assess the risk of infections in people diagnosed with SLE in Kenya. We will develop a registry of patients with SLE and follow them over time to see how often they get infections.
By studying this data, we hope to understand the risk factors for infections in SLE and improve the treatment of SLE to enhance the well-being of those affected by this disease in Kenya.
